So much to say, not a lot of time. A basket full of good things has appeared at my front door recently:
- approval for a refinance that significantly reduced my interest rate and life of the loan;
- an interview for a position that I feel is a much stronger fit for me (that I expect comes with a hearty salary increase);
- totally kicking ass in my class;
- re-decorating the bathroom from head to toe;
- realizing how awesome it is that I live in Fremont, with an amazing view from Bellevue to west Queen Anne, including bits of Lake Union, the downtown skyline and the Space Needle.
I feel like things are starting to pull together. I suppose all it took on my part was some effort to get the ball rolling. I’d like to work up some more recipes soon; possibly this weekend, but it may be next week before I have an opportunity. It’s on my list. I have a few other things on my list, too, but coming up with the time is challenging. I can only imagine what things will look like in the fall when I’m in school 80% and working full-time. Yikes. Oh yeah, and then there’s yoga. (Yoga? What’s that!?) I’m also working on some articles over there, too.
I’m slowly redecorating the rest of the house: buying art, buying rugs, window treatments… I can’t believe how choosy I’ve been with the art. Actually, yes I can. I am neurotic when it comes to the comfort of my home. I have been looking at pieces for quite a while and have had a hard time finding pieces that I feel will really speak to the spaces. Though, I am very interested in Eric Andrew’s pieces. He had some art up in Caffe Vita, up the street from me, last year that were just gorgeous. Hopefully in the next few months, I’ll be able to make some decisions.
In the spirit of keeping it short and sweet, I’ll stop rambling. There are more important things to be focusing on besides my random thoughts. In the meantime, I invite you to read these articles, which I enjoyed this week.
- VIDEO Night of the Living Dead, from Seattle Pulp (I will never again eat the octopus at Matt’s in the Market. I will never again eat the octopus at Matt’s in the Market. I will never again eat the octopus at Matt’s in the Market.)
- The Girl on the Bridge, Seattle Metro magazine
- Paul McCartney’s movement to end slaughterhouses, PETA (I’m not a fan of some of PETA’s tactics, but this is a pretty interesting idea.)
If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian.

- The Truth About Childless Women, Huff Post
- Weird Writing Habits of Famous Authors, Flavorwire
Have a beautiful weekend!
Congratulations on all your good fortune! And how much you love your law classes and digging deeply into the “rules” that govern us. It sounds like it’s such a great fit for you. I loved Fremont and lived there for a while, maybe 15 years ago? The last place I lived in the Seattle area was Greenlake (moved to Cali in 2002) and that was pretty great too. Would love to see your art if you have a chance to take any pics!
